A Quiet Invitation to Choose – Finding Your Five Teas

There is something deeply personal about choosing tea.
It is not merely about flavour. It is about the mood you wish to invite, the pace you want to set, and the quiet company you keep in the cup.

We have prepared a small selection of ten teas for you. Each one comes from a different mountain, a different tradition, a different way of listening to the leaf. You are invited to choose five of them. Every sample will be approximately 5–8 grams — enough for several unhurried Gong Fu Cha sessions, enough to begin a conversation with the tea.

Below you will find each tea described simply and honestly, so that you may recognise the one that calls to you.

The Teas

1. Ya Shi Xiang Dan Cong (Duck Shit Aroma) – Oolong
   Phoenix Mountain, Guangdong
   Despite its playful name, this is one of the most elegant and aromatic Dan Cong varieties. Floral and honeyed, with a lingering sweetness that rises like morning mist. A tea that leaves a quiet impression long after the cup is empty.
2. Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe) – Rock Oolong
   Wuyi Mountains, Fujian
   The legendary rock tea of Wuyi. Deep, mineral, and full of presence. It carries the character of stone and charcoal fire, yet remains smooth and composed. A classic for those who love depth and complexity.
3. Shui Xian (Narcissus) – Rock Oolong
   Wuyi Mountains, Fujian
   Soft orchid fragrance wrapped in a rounded, gentle body. Elegant without being distant. A tea that feels calm and complete from the first steep.
4. Rou Gui (Cassia) – Rock Oolong
   Wuyi Mountains, Fujian
   Warming and spicy, with a clear cinnamon-like note and the unmistakable mineral backbone of true yancha. Bold, yet refined. A tea that wakes the senses.
5. Nannuoshan Shou Pu-erh – Ripe Pu-erh
   Nannuoshan, Yunnan
   Smooth, earthy, and deeply comforting. This ripe Pu-erh feels like coming home — soft, warm, and easy to spend time with.
6. Guafengzhai Sheng Pu-erh – Raw Pu-erh
   Guafengzhai, Yunnan
   Fresh, lively, and clear. A young raw Pu-erh full of energy and brightness, with the quiet promise of what it may become over the years.
7. Nannuoshan Hong Cha – Black Tea
   Nannuoshan, Yunnan
   Malty and honeyed, with a gentle sweetness that lingers. Warm and welcoming, like late afternoon light through a window.
8. Mòlì Yín Háo (Jasmine Silver Tip) – Jasmine White-Style Tea
   Fujian
   Delicate and ethereal. Fine silver tips scented with pure jasmine, offering a light, clean and quietly fragrant cup of remarkable purity.
9. Zhanglang Bai Cha – White Tea
   Yunnan
   Delicate, naturally sweet, and quietly floral. A white tea of clarity and softness — like clean mountain air in a cup.
10. Huangshan Maofeng – Green Tea
    Anhui
    Fresh and elegant, with the pure character of spring. Clean, soft, and gently sweet. A tea of quiet vitality.

A Few Gentle Suggestions

If you are drawn to fragrance and flowers, begin with Ya Shi Xiang, Mòlì Yín Háo, or Shui Xian.
If you love depth and mineral strength, choose Da Hong Pao or Rou Gui.
If you seek comfort and warmth, try Shou Pu-erh or Nannuoshan Hong Cha.
If you prefer freshness and lightness, turn toward Sheng Pu-erh, White Tea, or Green Tea.

There is no correct choice — only the teas that feel right to you in this moment.
